The client

Emily McNamara is an experienced illustrator and designer specialising in original artwork for textiles, homewares, print and online media.

The challenge

Emily was building a folio website so she could show off her design work and gain more freelance design work. She knew how she wanted her brand story to sound but couldn’t quite find the words. Emily was too shy to sell herself and needed help cutting the filler info to make the rest killer.

The solution

Usually a beautifully colloquial communicator, Emily wanted a professional tone of voice to reflect the professionalism of her designs. She wanted to strike the perfect balance between including her broad and impressive experience without ever sounding arrogant.

The brand story

Emily McNamara is an experienced illustrator and designer specialising in original artwork for textiles, homewares, print and online media. She can help you design and create artwork for lace, embroidery, knitwear, repeating patterns for textiles and vintage prints.

Emily developed her design skills with a Bachelor of Design (Monash University) and a Bachelor of Textile Design (RMIT) before working with brands including Country Road, Cotton On Kids, Kmart and Sportsgirl.

You can find Emily’s original designs on childrenswear, hats and headbands, tea towels, pencil cases, sleepwear, framed on walls, and right here on her Instagram too.

Emily finds inspiration for her work wandering through art galleries, losing herself (and her friends) at gigs and festivals (remember them?), and exploring the processes of new mediums like knitting. And, like most people in their thirties, she’s training for a half marathon.

If you think Emily might be able to solve your design challenges, reach out and tell her about your project here.
