The client

Del Villar is a slow fashion label grounded in Australia creating conscientiously designed minimalist ready-to-wear clothing for women.

The challenge

Del Villar was rebranding with a change of name. They wanted an elevated and sophisticated tone of voice without ever being pretentious. Del Villar needed a new tagline and brand story, articulated values and mission statement, as well as impact and sustainability copy.

The solution

It’s always a great pleasure being trusted to articulate a brand’s tone of voice. Rebranding can be stressful so I was happy to help take care of all the copy with so much else going on for the founder.

Identifying and expressing brand values and finding the right words to convey a brand’s commitment to sustainability and summing up the founder’s dreams and goals in a concise mission statement is a special kind of thrill.

The tagline

Reimagined classics for every body.

The brand story

Del Villar is a slow fashion label grounded in Byron Bay, Australia.

Our minimalist ready-to-wear collections are designed to give your best self to the world each day. Inspired by the versatility and timelessness of minimalism, our conscientious design ethos weaves through the contemporary fit, conscious fabrics, and meticulous construction in each of our designs.

The mission

Our mission is to empower women and create a positive impact on the planet by designing timeless garments of lasting quality responsibly. We believe in inclusivity and fairness so we source natural materials and work with an ethical female-owned factory. We take time to make conscientious choices in our business operations but we know there is always more we can do. We are dedicated to further improving our impact over time.

The values

Slow

We create timeless designs in small runs to minimise waste because we believe slow fashion is a meaningful way to diminish our environmental impact and bolster our positive impact.

Inclusive

Our designs are made to love and be loved by every body. We consciously tailor an inclusive range of sizes so that each piece is an elegant expression of the design’s spirit.

Ethical

We believe clothing should empower the women who make them as much as those who wear them. We make our clothes in a female-owned and run factory in Indonesia. We nurture a close relationship with all our manufacturing partners to ensure they meet our code of conduct, which guarantees safe and ethical working conditions for all of its people.

Sustainable

Our impeccable quality is grounded in sustainability. We choose to use natural materials and conscientious production techniques to minimise waste and ensure our garments remain in your regular rotation into the distant future.

Progress

We don’t have all the answers but we are seeking them. We are doing what we can to be a responsible and sustainable brand. We acknowledge there is always more we can do, which is why we are dedicated to learning and exploring news ways to improve our practices.

The impact and sustainability

Impact And Empowerment

Every Del Villar garment creates a positive impact on the planet and her people. We are working to reduce our footprint and expand our positive impact by funding social initiatives. Presently, we are helping employ women, educate children, and planting trees to help regenerate damaged ecosystems.

Empowering women and children

Every Del Villar garment empowers women and children in Bali by funding employment and education opportunities. Working with local social enterprise Bali Life, your support helps us give back and uplift the women of Bali.

Reforesting the world

Planting trees is one of the most impactful ways to address climate change and offset the impact of creating our garments. Trees purify water, stabilise and regenerate ecosystems, and sequester carbon from the atmosphere. Working with our tree planting partner, Greenfleet, every Del Villar garment funds native biodiverse forest projects in Australia.

Minimising Our Footprint

Natural Fabrics

We conscientiously use natural fabrics to ensure the best comfort and quality, while also minimising our impact on the planet.

Up-cycling

We minimise wastage by reclaiming off cuts to make small accessories and reduce the amount of waste destined for landfill.

Plastic-free

We use compostable bags from factory to studio and recycled cardboard boxes from the studio to your home.
