The client
Richard Wiesebrock is a registered architect who honed his expertise working with some of Australia’s best architects. In 2017, he established his own firm – Wiesebrock Architecture – creating new builds and alterations across residential, commercial and educational builds.
The challenge
Richard needed copy for his new website but first, we had to define his tone of voice. He wanted it to stand out from the generally monotonous and trite tones of other architectural firms without sounding too casual and flippant. The result perfectly reflects Richard’s approach to his work – experienced and modest, confident but never arrogant. He needed a tagline and brand story, a clever homepage, and copy for services, projects and values too.
The solution
Once we established Wiesebrock Architecture’s tone of voice, we tackled the tagline then the brand story. With those references, the values were easier to write. Then I translated the services so they were easily understood by novices as well as seasoned professionals, and finally we created some short stories for his completed projects.
The tagline
Richard wanted a tagline that summarised his approach to his work. His work responds to the site and is always functional. His new tagline takes pride of place on his homepage.

The brand story
Richard Wiesebrock founded WA in 2017 after ten years working with some of Australia’s best award-winning architects. A registered architect, he has designed and delivered new builds and alterations spanning commercial fit outs, schools, houses, and cultural facilities.
His diverse experience has reinforced the power of taking a collaborative approach to projects, and the exponential benefits of developing a strong relationship built on understanding and effective communication.
He has dedicated his life to deepening his understanding of truly great design. In the pursuit of expanding his expertise, he’s learnt how to restore vintage furniture and motorcycles, hand build models, and renovate his own home. This cumulative experience helps him approach new design challenges with fresh perspectives and multifaceted expertise.

The services
Design consultation
We take time to understand your needs and help you prepare a brief that is in line with your budget, conduct feasibility studies, and complete master planning if needed.
High level concept
We define the form and plan a pragmatic layout in 3D models, 2D drawings and outline specifications. We obtain an initial cost estimate, and make preliminary material and finishes selections and reconcile them with your budget.
Development applications
We assist you in the preparation and submission of town planning applications to local councils for approval.
Design development
We refine your material and finishes and finalise the interior design and joinery details. We coordinate initial structural design input, and begin lighting and electrical layouts.
Construction documentation
We work your designs into practical documents for builders to price and process your building permits. Then we coordinate and manage other consultants.
Contractor selection
We help you negotiate the selection and the contracts of reliable builders.
Contract administration
We prepare contracts and administration of contracts between you and your builder throughout construction to ensure you get what we designed. We do this with site visits, any additional documentation and details the builder needs, and assessing progress claims. We will also closely and proactively monitor timings and budgets.
Post construction guidance
We will help you with defect inspections and coordinate any required work during the defects liability period.
The projects
Bellbrae House
A retired couple’s forever home years in the dreaming. Two pavilions are connected by a large central deck. The home expresses the owners’ need for providing space and separation for the few times a year when their children visit. The communal deck frames glorious valley views and provides a sunny northern aspect to the living areas and bedrooms. The robust galvanized steel external envelope is softened internally with the warmth of timber, which will provide a lifetime of low maintenance joy.
